Job Title Marketing & Business Development Manager (Pensions and M&A) – Corporate & Finance Location London, United Kingdom Department Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) Reports To Head of M&BD – Corporate & Finance – UK Working Hours 35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm. Additional hours may be required. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are considered, allowing up to 40% working from home. Department Description The Marketing and Business Development team supports the firm with business development, marketing, and client relationship activities. The team is organised into key areas: practice M&BD, client and sector pitches, corporate communications, and campaigns & projects. Role Overview The Marketing & Business Development Manager will collaborate with the Head of C&F M&BD, global M&A & Pensions partners, and the London M&A M&BD lead to deliver projects and goals outlined in the Pensions and M&A business plans. Key Responsibilities
Deliver on objectives laid out in the Pensions and M&A business plans. Maximise revenue growth from existing and prospective clients across the practices. Raise the firm’s profile within key markets and coordinate resources efficiently.
M&BD Strategy and Budget
Collaborate with Practice Area leaders, senior partners and the Head of M&BD to support London and global plans and budgets. Implement M&A business plans and coordinate with London Pensions partners to shape delivery of the Pensions business plan.
Client Targeting and Development
Support the Corporate & Finance Practice Group’s global Client Listening Programme and embed it within the Pensions and M&A practices. Contribute to client opportunities to broaden relationships and develop new ones. Advise on new business opportunities and support development of propositions and supporting materials. Encourage effective use of the firm’s CRM and experience management databases.
Pitching
Develop strategies for and manage responses to RFPs, customised pitches, and business development presentations across the M&A and Pensions practices. Work with the global Corporate & Finance team to create standard credentials and bespoke materials for Pensions and M&A outreach. Prepare pitch teams and conduct post‑pitch reviews. Maintain structured approaches to update M&BD information and share best practices.
Marketing Campaigns and Profile Raising
Deliver global marketing programmes, campaigns, thought leadership and social media efforts to raise the profile of the Pensions and M&A practices. Contribute to deal capture and reporting processes. Collaborate with the central PR team on thought leadership, sponsorships, and targeted events. Ensure high‑standard UK directory submissions and support European and global submissions. Manage London‑based events, including concept development, mailing lists, promotion and invitations.
Internal Communication and Knowledge Sharing
Establish efficient frameworks for internal reporting and communication of M&BD activities and successes. Maintain credentials databases and act as the point of contact for lawyer queries. Liaise with other M&BD managers, Knowledge and PR teams to disseminate best practice. Develop and produce internal client newsletters.
Wider BD Projects
Contribute to Corporate & Finance Practice Group and M&BD projects in collaboration with the Head of UK C&F M&BD / Global M&A M&BD lead. Participate in the firm’s Responsible Business programme.
Person Specification Qualifications And Training
Strong relevant experience, preferably in a legal sector M&BD role with exposure to pensions and/or corporate transactional work. Strategic and commercial thinking. Excellent project management skills. Experience in a partnership or equivalent professional services environment. Broad marketing mix experience, especially client relationship management, pitches and targeting. Post‑graduate management or marketing qualification (e.g., MBA, CIM) is advantageous.
