Commercial Catering Assistant- Job description We are looking for an experienced prep chef to assist our kitchen to deliver a high quality fresh range of diverse lunches and teas. Little Tums Catering is a well established catering company that specialises in the delivery of meals to children's nurseries and schools. Our business continues to grow and thrive and as a result we are looking to extend our opening hours and create a second team that works early afternoons/evenings. The afternoon team will be tasked with the preparation of our cold teas, for the following days deliveries as well as fresh fruit, vegetable and ingredient preparation. Our new team will need to have chefs that are knowledgeable in their field, possess qualities such as being trustworthy, dependable and punctual, have a high level of attention to detail and the ability to follow company policies regarding allergen control, hygiene and cleanliness. Main duties and responsibilities: Preparation of cold ready to eat foods, such as sandwiches, wraps and pastries Preparation of fruits and vegetables (knife skills a must) Product labelling and date labelling Storing all food safety and sanitation guidelines Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment Experience- Previous experience working in a commercial environment preferred. Knowledge of COSHH Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures Experience in food preparation and cooking techniques Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Knowledge of allergen and dietary controls and safe handling Knife skills Working Environment/Hours- We are looking to bring a second team of preparation chefs in after our standard working hours, 5am-14:30. We are looking to create an afternoon/ evening shift but this is totally flexible. We are able to offer 25 30 hours a week and have a large degree of flexibility around these hours. The successful candidate, within reason will be able to pick their shift pattern to fit in with their out of work lifestyle, offering a great work life balance. Youll have access to a large modern commercial kitchen, with the benefit of the most up to date and maintained equipment, which allows you to achieve a high quality product in a functional and timely manner.
