Overview
The post holder will lead a team to run the catering operation within the Home. This includes preparing high quality home cooked, fresh, nutritional meals and catering for dietary and cultural needs.
Main duties and responsibilities
Lead, motivate and direct a team of kitchen colleagues to deliver a first-class catering service to residents.
Understand individual nutritional needs and choices of residents at all times.
Prepare menus in consultation with the Home Manager, residents, families, catering committees following best practice guidance.
Prepare, cook and serve meals meeting dietary requirements and personal choices.
Plan and deliver set four weekly menus with substitutions authorised by the Home Manager; communicate allergen changes effectively.
Responsible for the catering budget and operate within it.
Engage with residents, relatives, visitors and colleagues to continually improve quality of life and service.
Prepare beverages and snacks daily according to residents' needs.
Ensure food quality and nutrition standards are maintained.
Ensure compliance with the Company Food Safety Management System and maintain a safe kitchen.
Stock taking, rotation, storage, deliveries; monitor and replenish kitchen stocks with records per procedures.
Maintain presentation of dining areas and up-to-date stock records.
Supervise kitchen staff and liaise with the Home Manager on any difficulties.
Maintain high standards of hygiene and environmental safety; report equipment defects.
Under supervision, conduct annual appraisals and quarterly staff development plans.
General responsibilities

Knowledge
Nutrition Science for the elderly or equivalent
2 years relevant experience as a Chef or Cook
