Reporting to the Facilities Manager. Undertake overall responsibility for catering operations and carry out all duties in accordance with safe working practices and work as an effective member of the management and catering team.

The role will be based in Balfron High School, Balfron.

And as a Catering Manager with Bellrock, you’ll do it by

Catering

  • Management of all catering operations within School.
  • Fully support and advise other catering managers on aspects within the Catering Service
  • Ensuring all Stirling Council Menus guidance are delivered that meets the heathy eating in schools guidance 2020.
  • Ensuring all hygiene and temperature control measures are met and recorded within Bellrock Food Safety System.
  • Manage staff resources to ensure the service delivers an effective catering service
  • Manage allergen risk control and maintain all relevant documentation as detailed within the Bellrock Food Safety System.
  • Stock ordering, control, and management, to ensure value for money is obtained at all times, as is minimal waste and optimum stock holdings.
  • Financial reconciliation of cash and card payments in accordance with local Bellrock processes.
  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene and working practices in accordance with the Food Safety Act and any other relevant legislation.
  • To ensure compliance concerning regulations relating to Health and Safety in the workplace to self and others.
  • To participate in the provision of a cost effective, value for money Catering Service.
  • Any other reasonable and appropriate duties as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Attend recognised training in relation to Food Safety, Nutrition and Health and safety.
  • To ensure safe storage of foods, recording and monitoring of temperatures as required by Food Safety Act.
  • To assist in encouraging children to eat a healthy balanced meal.
  • To support the school in food projects working with the children.


Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E)

  • To always work in a safe manner for the benefit of the facilities, company personnel, building users and client, other contractors, visitors, and members of the public.
  • To ensure that statutory requirements, codes of practice and procedures relating to the Health and Safety at Work act and any other relevant enforcements are met in full.
  • To correctly wear all personal protective equipment supplied in the areas designated for this.
  • To maintain and be responsible for the safe use and storage of all cleaning materials and equipment used in the course of his/her duties.
  • To report faults, or health and safety related issues to the Facilities Manager in a timely manner.
  • To display appropriate signage to ensure that occupants of the building are aware of any circumstances that may affect their health and safety whilst catering/cleaning operations are taking place.
  • To carry out as instructed all food safety processes as laid out in Bellrock Food Safety System.

Financial

  • To ensure correct and efficient use of all equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Operation of cashless system, tills and money handling and cashing up.

Decision Making Authority:

  • Health and Safety issues.
  • School and hospitality menus and daily counter service offerings.
  • Work method.
  • Risk Assessments.
  • Developing the skills of the catering team within school

Human Resources

  • Ensuring correct procedures are followed concerning HR policies and procedures,
  • Manage the team effectively through consistent positive communication and best practice

Interaction with Others:

  • Daily contact Facilities Manager, Cook, Catering Operatives, Site FM Team and School Management team, teachers and pupils.
  • Suppliers, subcontractors, and other visitors
  • Working in environment where children will be present.

What does it take?

  • Possess relevant qualifications and documented competencies.
  • Previous experience of a similar role is essential.
  • Ability to work without constant supervision.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Flexible and positive approach to team working.
  • Good timekeeping.
  • Understanding of health and safety issues in a Kitchen.
  • Understanding of Food safety Act 1990
  • Understanding of Healthy eating in Schools guidance 2020 Scotland .
  • Member of the PVG scheme for working with Vulnerable groups in Scotland .


Working arrangements

In this role, the successful candidate would be required to work from Balfron High School, Glasgow, G63 0PW Monday to Friday 07:30-15:00.
