We are seeking a passionate and experienced

Catering & Events Chef

to take the lead on an exciting new project

managing and operating our a mobile food truck

This unique role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality food at events and festivals while supporting young people with learning disabilities to develop real-world hospitality and catering skills. Its an ideal position for someone who thrives on creativity, community engagement, and making a meaningful impact through food and training.

Youll play a key role in extending students learning into the community, helping them gain confidence, independence, and employability skills

while ensuring the smooth operation and success of the mobile catering enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

Catering and Operations

Manage daily operations of the food truck, ensuring high standards of food hygiene, preparation, and service. Prepare, cook, and serve a consistent, appealing menu suitable for a range of events. Oversee stock control, ordering, budgeting, and waste management. Ensure compliance with all food safety, licensing, and health & safety requirements. Handle cashing-up and payment processes accurately and securely. Drive and maintain the vehicle to ensure its clean, roadworthy, and event-ready.

Student Support and Mentorship

Provide hands-on opportunities for students to gain catering and service experience. Model professional standards in customer service and kitchen operations. Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to align practical learning with curriculum goals. Offer constructive feedback to help students progress toward work ready, life ready goals.

Community Engagement

Represent the organisation at public events, showcasing student potential and professionalism. Support setup, service, and breakdown at festivals, markets, and community pop-ups. Help promote and grow the food truck enterprise by building local partnerships.

Administration and Compliance

Maintain accurate records of sales, maintenance, and student participation. Contribute to reports and evaluations of the projects impact and performance. Attend training and planning sessions to support operational excellence.

Experience:

Essential:

Experience in catering, hospitality, or mobile food operations Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen management Full UK driving licence (ideally clean, with ability to drive a 3.5-tonne vehicle) Excellent communication and organisational skills A flexible, practical, and customer-focused mindset Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum) or willingness to obtain

Desirable:

Experience supporting young people or individuals with SEND Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (or willingness to work towards)
